About
Our Mission
The Foster City Flyers provides a competitive environment for boys and girls of both Asian and Pacific Islander descent to compete at tournament-level play across California. The Flyers organization strives to provide strong skills and character development, on and off the court, instilling the values of integrity, sportsmanship, teamwork, family, positivity and community outreach. The Foster City Flyers creates bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood through competitive basketball and service that will lead to lifelong friendships and to the development of positive role models for future generations.
Our History
The Foster City Flyers Asian Basketball Organization (“Flyers”) was informally created by two friends in 1999. They perceived a need and desire for tournament-level basketball teams in the Foster City-San Mateo area. They organized a group of 9th grade boys in the San Mateo-Foster City area to play in tournaments in 1999. Today, the Flyers organization stretches its reach:
To provide tournament-level basketball to several young people of the San Francisco Bay Area who are of made up of youth in our community.
To enhance their basketball skills while cultivating good sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie in the players through competitive basketball.
Each year, the Flyers expect to field a pair of boys and girls teams from the 5th to the 12th grade.
